Liposuction targets stubborn pockets of fat in areas such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, and neck. While it can dramatically improve shape and proportions, it is not a substitute for weight loss.

During your consultation, our experienced surgeons will discuss your goals and create a customized treatment plan. After the procedure you can expect some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort—these typically resolve within several weeks. Most patients begin to see visible results within a few weeks, with final results becoming apparent over several months as swelling fully subsides. Results are long-lasting when combined with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle.

Patient safety is our top priority. The amount of fat that can be safely removed depends on your overall health, the areas being treated, and surgical judgment. Our board-certified plastic surgeons typically recommend removing between 2 to 5 liters of fat (approximately 4 to 11 pounds) in a single session for healthy adults. Removing more than this can increase risks. If more extensive reduction is desired, procedures may be staged across multiple sessions.

Liposuction at our practice is designed for body contouring and targeted fat reduction—not weight loss. During your personalized consultation we will determine the safest and most effective approach for your goals.

Some of the most popular and responsive areas include the abdomen, flanks (love handles), hips, thighs (inner and outer), and buttocks. We also frequently treat the upper arms, back (especially beneath the bra line), and the submental area under the chin for a more defined jawline and neck.

Skin elasticity plays an important role in achieving the best results. Patients with good skin tone generally see smoother contouring after fat removal. If skin laxity is a concern, our surgeons can discuss complementary skin-tightening options.

Traditional liposuction primarily removes excess fat cells and does not directly tighten skin. How well the skin retracts depends on age, skin quality, elasticity, and the volume of fat removed. Younger patients or those with good elasticity often see natural tightening.

Laser-assisted techniques such as SmartLipo™ can stimulate collagen production through controlled heat and may provide modest improvement in skin firmness compared with traditional methods. For significant skin laxity, complementary procedures such as a tummy tuck, arm lift, or other skin excision surgeries may be recommended. Every plan is customized during your consultation.
